Former PCB Chief Ramiz Raja Opens Up on His Exit

Ramiz Raja has been in news for a while now owing to several reasons. The former PCB chief’s comments about the BCCI made quite some headlines. However, this time he is in the news because of his unexpected exit from PCB. The cricketing board is undergoing several changes including the sacking of the former chief as well as the chief selector. Najaf Sethi replaced Ramiz Raja while Shahid Afridi was named as the interim chief.

The decision from the PCB comes after the team recently lost 2 finals of the multinational tournament and then a shameful test series loss at home. A 3-0 defeat versus England also ended the hopes for the World Test Championship finals. Former chief Ramiz Raja has now opened up on his exit from the office and expressed that he was sad after being removed. He criticized the current PCB team, saying that they had no ambition of improving the game.

Prior to taking the position of the PCB chief, Ramiz Raja had his own YouTube channel. Coming back to his channel, he said, “They attacked me personally as soon as they got control of the cricket board. I wasn’t even allowed to take my stuff from the office. These 17 guys were all around the PCB office in the morning, making it seem like a Federal Investigation Agency raid. They tweeted at 2:15 AM saying that Ramiz Raja has been ousted. I have played Test cricket, and this is my playing field. These things hurt you. It seems as if they have found a messiah from somewhere who is going to do wonders for them. However, we know that they have major flaws.”

Further continuing, Ramiz Raja said that the newer members of PCB were merely interested in enjoying the limelight. Raja mentioned that he did not accept the PCB chairmanship in order to receive financial compensation, suggesting that the position was an honorable one and he did not receive a salary. Considering that he was anticipated to become embroiled in numerous controversies, he claimed that he had obtained approval from his family to perform the task.
