Team India won the five-match T20I series against Australia 4-1. It was a great effort from the team that didn’t have the big names in it. Suryakumar Yadav led the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer and did a pretty decent job. Apart from the loss in the third game when Glenn Maxwell played an unbelievable knock, India dominated the visitors in the entire series.

There were a number of players who stood up for India and performed. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashavi Jaiswal gave India good starts. Skipper, along with Tilak Varma, Shreyas Iyer, and Ishan Kishan, did their job. Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma did the finishing touch. Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel were also pretty impressive. All in all, it was a complete team’s effort from the hosts.

Suryakumar Yadav is on cups equaling Virat Kohli’s massive T20I Record

Team India will now travel to South Africa for a multi-format series. Both teams will play three matches each in T20Is and ODIs, followed by two tests. The tour will start on December 10 with the first T20I game at Kingsmead, Durban. Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the side, and with that, he will have a big chance to register his name in the record books.

SKY is the No. 1 ranked T20I batter at the moment. In the five-match T20I series against Australia, he scored 144 runs in five innings at an average and strike rate of 28.80 and 160. In his T20I career, he has played 55 innings and scored 1985 runs at an average of 44.11 and a strike rate of 171.71, with three hundred and 16 half-centuries. He just needs 15 more runs to reach 2000 T20I runs.

If he can do it in the first T20I game against South Africa, he will equal Virat Kohli‘s record for the fastest Indian batter to 2000 T20I runs. Virat did it in 56 innings. On the other hand, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan jointly hold the record for the fastest in 52 innings. SKY can be the joint-fastest to score 2000 T20I runs.
