Ajinkya Rahane Named As the Captain of Mumbai in SMAT

Ajinkya Rahane who has been away from international cricket for a while has been playing domestic matches lately. While there’s no update on when he’ll be back in whites for India, the batsman has been named as the captain of Mumbai in SMAT. The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022 will start on October 11. After winning the Duleep Trophy for the West Zone, the Mumbai captain, Ajinkya Rahane will want the same in SMAT too. So definitely looking for a national call again whenever they want my services,” he said.

Ajinkya Rahane led Mumbai squad for SMAT

Ajinkya Rahane may have played only 20 T20Is for India with an average of 20.83 but his T20 numbers are decent. Rahane was a part of the Rajasthan Royals squad for a long time before moving to Pune Supergiants. This year he was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad and his SMAT performance will decide his place in the KKR team with the auctions right around the corner. In 219 T20 matches, he has 5528 runs, 40 half centuries and 2 centuries.
