The first Women’s Premier League final between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals turned out to be a thriller followed by brilliant bowling performances by both sides. Batting first Delhi Capitals managed to score just 131 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Issy Wong once again shone with the ball to claim three more wickets conceding 42 runs. Amelia Kerr took a couple but Hayley Matthews starred by taking three wickets for just five runs in four overs including two maidens. Thanks to the herculean efforts by Shikha Pandey (27*) and Radha Yadav (27*), Delhi Capitals could reach a decent score.

The chase was not very smooth for Mumbai Indians. They lost Yastika Bhatia for just 4 but Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur helped Mumbai reach the target. Sciver-Brunt remained unbeaten on 60 while the captain added 37 runs. The match went into the final over followed by a few tight spells by Delhi Capitals bowlers. Eventually, Mumbai won the match by seven wickets with just three balls in hand.

WPL 2023: Orange Cap Winner

As expected, Meg Lanning won the first Orange Cap of the Women’s Premier League. She once again top-scored (35) for Delhi Capitals in the final and accumulated 345 runs from nine matches. Mumbai Indians batters Nat Sciver-Brunt, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Hayley Matthews are standing in second, fourth, and fifth place with 332, 281, and 271 runs respectively.

WPL 2023: Purple Cap Winner

Hayley Matthews bowled brilliantly in the final match (4-2-5-3) of the WPL 2023 to eventually get hold of the Purple Cap. She surpassed Sophie Ecclestone who claimed the same number of wickets. Issy Wong, after claiming another 3-wicket haul ended the league in the fourth place of the Purple Cap table followed by Saika Ishaque in the fifth.
