Sent into bat, the Giants lost Sophia Dunkley in the very first over. However, Harleen Deol continued her good form and added 49 runs in partnership with Laura Wolvaardt. Deol was dismissed for 31 by Jess Jonassen but that brought Ashleigh Gardner to the crease and the all-rounder built another big partnership of 81 runs with Wolvaardt. Both Woolvaardt and Gardner scored half-centuries as Gujarat posted a competitive total of 147/4 in their 20 overs.
Delhi Capitals Women did not have a good start as Shafali Verma failed again and was dismissed by Tanuja Kanwar for just 8. Alice Capsey scored a quick-fire 22 off 11 deliveries before she was run out brilliantly. Meg Lanning was dismissed for 18 by her opposite number Sneh Rana and Jemimah Rodrigues had a rare failure as Delhi collapsed to 52 for 4. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals as 29-ball 36 from Marizanne Kapp and 17-ball 25 from Arundhati Reddy was not enough for them. They were eventually bowled out for 136 with 8 balls to spare. Gardner picked up 2 wickets along with a half-century to get the Player-of-the-match award.

The losing captain of Delhi Capitals, Meg Lanning said,
We felt that if we bat out the overs, we could actually get over the line. Gujarat team bowled very well. We didn’t play to our potential tonight. Our bowlers did an excellent job and I think they were 20-25 short. We didn’t take that many wickets but we contained them quite well. With wickets in the back end, obviously they would score a bit. It is a good learning opportunity for us. My shot to get out was poor. Playing across the line on a track where I should have played straight and two key run-outs. We lost momentum as we kept losing wickets but credit to Gujarat. (On Harleen Deol) We spoke a bit about her, she bowls a bit of off spin and leg spin. She put the balls in the right areas and got the rewards. Everyone has been busy so they will enjoy their time off tomorrow.
Sneh Rana, the winning captain of Gujarat Giants said,
The smile is always there. We felt 150 was a par score with this ground and conditions. (On Meg Lanning’s wicket) Yeah, it was a big wicket, enjoyed it. I think the momentum was in our favour only, Kim Garth started brilliantly. Whoever contributes to the team, will be the best. We need two good partnerships to get a good score, and we got that today. Everyone was in a positive mindset right from warm-ups, and we knew we had to do it today.
