WPL 2023 Points Table: Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets
Mumbai Indians continued with their winning streak as they defeated Delhi Capitans by eight wickets. Batting first Delhi Capitals had a huge collapse and they could set just a mere target of 106 for Mumbai. Harmanpreet Kaur-led team chased it down in 15 overs to remain unbeaten in the Women’s Premier League 2023. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals with two wins from three games, are standing in second place currently in the Points Table.
Delhi Capitals batted first and Meg Lanning, the skipper started in her usual way. However, she hardly found a partner and Delhi Capitals were without three top-order batters including Shafali Verma, Marizanne Kapp, and Alice Capsey in seven overs. Jemimah showed up albeit and it seemed like Delhi Capitals found their way back to the game. But Saika Ishaque struck in 13th over and scalped both of the batters to finally add three wickets to her name. Hayley Matthews was the next bowler who picked up another couple of wickets in the same over. Issy Wong then added two more to her tally to make it three and eventually, Delhi Capitals were all-out for 105. Delhi Capitals, in no time, were down to 105/10 from 31/3 thanks to the trio of Wong-Ishaque-Matthews.
The chase was never going to be difficult and it was difficult for Delhi Capitals bowlers to defend such a low total. They still managed to take two wickets as Tara Norris and Alice dismissed Yastika Bhatis and Hayley Matthews. Bhatia missed her half-century by just nine runs whereas Matthews scored 32. Nat Sciver-Brunt remained unbeaten on 23.
