The Indian team thrashed England completely in the third test in Rajkot and went on to register their biggest win. India slammed the visitors by a record-breaking 434 runs, which is also the second-biggest defeat for England in terms of runs. The hosts now have a  2-1 lead with two games left to play. However, India are likely to rest Jasprit Bumrah in the fourth test.

The coming game will begin on February 23 (Friday) at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi. Some media reports confirm that Jasprit Bumrah is likely to rest for the fourth test because of his work load. That might open a big hole in the Indian bowling attack. Bumrah is the leading wicket-taker in the series with 17 wickets and is certainly the biggest threat for England. However, there will be a few players who can replace him.

Three Players who can replace Jasprit Bumrah for fourth test vs ENG in Ranchi

3. Mukesh Kumar

Mukesh Kumar was part of the second test in Vizag and bowled a few overs. However, he had a pretty average game, but he can come in as a replacement for Bumrah. Mukesh has played three tests and has 7 wickets at an average of 25.57. Though English batters enjoyed batting against him, he can be a pretty handy bowler to have. He has already been with the team for quite some time and can be tricky on his day.

2. Akash Deep

Akash Deep got his maiden call most recently after some good performances at the domestic level. He is a pretty canny customer who bowls at a hard length. He is a bowling all-rounder who has taken 104 wickets in 30 FC games and has some experience under his belt. Akash can be tried along with Mohammed Siraj for the fourth test if Jasprit Bumrah rests in the coming game.

1. Axar Patel

India can also make changes to their bowling plans. The first thing will be the pitch. If India opt to make the Ranchi surface rank turners to minimise the effect of Bumrah’s absence, then India can go with four spinners. Ravichandra Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav are currently playing, and we might see Axar Patel get a chance. Axar’s inclusion will also strengthen the batting order, and India can go with Siraj as the sole pacer.
