3 Players who can replace Ravichandran Ashwin in Playing XI for 4th Test if he gets ruled out
The third test between India and England is currently underway at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Team India won the toss, batted first, and posted 445 runs. The hosts did an amazing job of bowling out England for 319 without Ravichandran Ashwin, who withdrew from the ongoing game due to family reasons. As per the update, Ashwin’s mother is currently not well; that’s why he had to leave the proceedings in between.
Though India have Devdutt Paddikkal as a substitute, he can’t bat or bowl. India will hope that everything gets settled down and Ashwin makes it to the fourth game. But if he is unable to make the fourth test, which will start on February 23, India will have to find some replacements. Here we will talk about three possible replacements for Ravichandra Ashwin if he doesn’t make the fourth test in Ranchi.
Three Players who can come in as replacements in the fourth test if Ravichandran Ashwin gets ruled out
3. Saurabh Kumar
Saurabh Kumar is one of the promising all-rounders in the Indian domestic circuit and has been part of the India A team for quite some time now. He was also part of the Indian squad for the second test as Ravindra Jadeja’s replacement. He is a left-arm spinner who bowls wicket-to-wicket and is also a pretty capable batter down the order. So there are chances that India might name him Ashwin’s replacement in the fourth test.
2. Washington Sundar
There are chances that India might not name any replacements and look for the other options available in the squad. That could give Washington Sundar a chance to play a game. The Southpaw has been on the radar for quite a while now and is a regular face in white-ball cricket. He can bowl with new or old balls at any moment of the game and is a better batsman. He can certainly add different value to the Indian squad if given chances in the playing XI.
1. Axar Patel
There are high chances that Axar Patel will make the cut in the playing XI if Ravichandran Ashwin is not available. Axar played the first game and missed the second. He is a more experienced player among the other options available and is a genuine contributor. Axar can score runs and can be pretty tricky to handle on turning pitches. However, the first test didn’t go well for him with the ball, but he can be a choice to replace Ashwin in the playing XI if needed.
