3 Reasons Why Resting Jasprit Bumrah in 3rd Test can be a huge Blunder for Team India
After losing the first game, Team India did a good job in the Vizag test. They beat England by 106 runs and levelled the series at 1-1. Now three games are left, and India need to win two matches at least to win the series and continue their winning streak at home.
But it looks a bit hard as Team India are likely to rest Jasprit Bumrah in the third test. Bumrah was the Man of the Match in the second test and took nine wickets. It was his spell that helped India bowl out England around 250 in the first innings. Now giving him the rest can be a blunder by Team India.
Three Reasons why India should not rest Jasprit Bumrah in the third test
1. Best against England’s Bazball
England’s ultra-aggressive approach has given them a lot of success, and that’s how they won the first test. But it was Jasprit Bumrah that came between them and a win in the second test. Looking at the current series, he has alone taken 15 wickets in two matches and is the leading wicket-taker. He is India’s best weapon against Bazball. So if India rest him in the third game, they don’t have any bowlers to tackle and outclass England’s aggressive approach.
2. Break in Rhythm
Notably, there is already a gap of ten days between the second and third tests, and it is enough to take rest for both teams and their players. And over that, giving Bumrah more rest might break the rhythm he is in right now. If he gets a break in the third game and plays the fourth one, which will start on February 23, which means a gap of almost 20 days, It is more than enough to get into a shell and lose momentum on your side.
3. Ineffective Indian attack
Team India went with Mohammed Siraj in the first game and Mukesh Kumar in the second. But both pacers looked ineffective in the games. Siraj bowled only 11 overs and conceded 50 runs. Mukesh bowled 12 overs and conceded 70 runs. Both pacers leaked runs over 5 runs per over, which suggests that England played them pretty well. And if Bumrah is not there, Indian pacers will be ineffective, and this may cause a defeat in Rajkot.
