3 Reasons why Shivam Dube is better option than Hardik Pandya in ICC T20 World Cup 2024
The Men in Blue are playing their final T20 series ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 in June. They have already won the ongoing series against Afghanistan, with one match left to play. Team India have done a decent job, and one name has done well in both games in Shivam Dube. The all-rounder won Man of the Match in the first game. He has registered two unbeaten 60+ scores in two matches at a strike rate of 173 and also picked up two wickets.
Dube has certainly increased his chances as an all-rounder for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. But, as we all know, India already have Hardik Pandya, who is recovering from his injury and will be the first-choice seam-bowling all-rounder in the team. But here, we will talk about three reasons why Shivam Dube should place, irrespective of Hardik’s injury, in the T20 World Cup 2024.
Three Reasons why Shivam Dube is better choice as an all-rounder than Hardik Pandya for T20 World Cup 2024.
1. Current Form
The most important aspect to consider when picking any player is their current form. Shivam Dube has been in the best of form and is also working on his bowling. He scored two consecutive fifties against Afghanistan and can be a dasher against spinners. His form in the IPL was also pretty good. On the other hand, Hardik Pandya hasn’t played international cricket, and by just playing IPL, one can’t pick him in the squad.
2. Floater
Shivam Dube provides an option as a floater in the batting order. Unlike Hardik, he can bat at any position in the batting order. He has played from No. 3 to No. 6 and has done well. That will give the batting order extra options as per the match situation. On the other hand, Hardik has batted at no. 5 or 6 for Team India.
3. Left-hand option
Looking at the predicted playing XI for Team India, we can see Rohit, Gill, Virat, Suryakumar Yadav, Iyer, and Rahul, which are seven right-handers in the top seven. There are no left-handers that can help the opposition make plans against India. But with Dube in the team, India will have a left-hander that will pose another challenge for the opposition.
