From 62/5, Axar Patel and Manish Pandey added 59 runs for the sixth wicket for DC. Pandey made 34 off 27 with two fours while Axar scored 34 off 34, with four boundaries. That partnership helped Delhi reach to a respectable score of 144/9 in first inning. Axar has been the most consistent batter for DC but he is batting way down the order. That’s what Sunil Gavaskar also feels. IN an interaction on Star Sports, Gavaskar said,

“Changes sometimes work, sometimes they don’t work. There has been a lot of shuffling in the batting order. I would have wanted to see Axar Patel up the order for the kind of batting form he has been, he should have been up there. Aman Hakim Khan played the most ridiculous shot in the IPL 2023. Axar Patel has clearly now made the claim to bat up the order not at 7.”

Bhuvneshwar was brilliant with the ball and picked up 2/11 in four overs. But SRH couldn’t chase down the target and DC spinners did the damage. Axar took 2/21 while Kuldeep ended up with 1/22. SRH reached only 137/6 and lost the game by 7 runs. The all-rounder was named “Man of the Match” for his performance. Delhi will now face Sunrisers once again on April 27 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
