Mr. Naushad Khan Expresses Gratitude to BCCI for Choosing Sarfaraz Khan for the England Test Series
Sarfaraz Khan, ready to make his international debut for the Indian cricket team, has made it to the playing eleven ahead of the second Test against England starting on February 2 in Visakhapatnam. India having lost the first Test and a series to fight, Sarfaraz alongside Washington Sundar and Saurabh Kumar, entered the side, replacing KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja owing to injury.
Though Sarfaraz has been prolific in terms of his performance in the domestic circuit over the years, he was led out of the national team mostly on account of fitness issues. Minor fitness levels held him out of the home series against Australia in Tests 2023, that triggered debates on this matter.
Sarfaraz was in exceptional form both for Mumbai and India A in the last two Ranji Trophy seasons, running up 556 at a stupendous average of 69.5 in his last four innings. His overall First-Class cricket average is a highly commendable 69.6, which speaks volumes about his batting prowess.
In a viral video before the second Test against England, Sarfaraz’s father thanked everyone who played any role in his son’s cricketing journey. On this matter, Sarfaraz shared a beautiful moment with his father on Instagram.
Rising Star: Sarfaraz Khan’s Journey to the Indian Test Squad
Sarfaraz’s father expressed gratitude in a viral video, acknowledging the support for his son’s career. As the second Test approaches, Sarfaraz, backed by his impressive track record, aims to secure a spot in the playing XI, especially with the absence of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, who will miss the next Test due to injuries and personal reasons, respectively.
The BCCI statement confirmed the exclusions of Jadeja and Rahul, citing a hamstring injury and quadriceps pain, respectively. The medical team is closely monitoring their progress. In response, the Men’s Selection Committee added Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar to the Indian squad for the second Test. The much-anticipated match is set to commence on February 2, 2024, in Vizag.
