In match number 11 of the IPL 2023 against Mumbai Indians, Ben Stokes (Injury) and Moeen Ali (Illness) were unavailable for selection due to their respective reasons. It is worth mentioning that the ace all-rounder is already in the middle of a knee injury. Skipper MS Dhoni didn’t specify the nature of the injury. Moreover, the latest media release of the Chennai Super Kings revealed that Stokes is nursing a minor toe injury which ruled him out of the Mumbai game.

“Chennai Super Kings cricketer Ben Stokes is nursing a minor toe injury which forced him out of the match against Mumbai Indians at The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday (April 8),” stated a CSK release.

In the first over of the game, CSK suffered a huge blow as their pace spearhead was ruled out of the game after bowling just six balls. He injured his left hamstring after bowling five deliveries. Despite finishing the over, he was unable to continue playing and left the field. Notably, Chahar’s career has been marred by regular injuries of late. He suffered a quadricep injury in February 2022 during India’s T20I series against the West Indies.

“Deepak Chahar injured his hamstring during Saturday’s match against Mumbai Indians. The fast bowler bowled one over before being forced off the field due to injury. Chahar will undergo scans to identify the extent of the injury once the team returns to Chennai. The Chennai Super Kings medical staff are closely monitoring both the players and will provide all support necessary for their recovery,” added the CSK release.

After winning the game against MI, Chennai now have four points to their name in three games. They next play Rajasthan Royals (RR) at their home ground. Chahar and Stokes are unlikely to take part in that game. Moeen will be fit for the next game. CSK will be bolstered by the addition of their overseas recruits Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana. The Lankan duo is all set to join the Chennai Super Kings’ squad on Monday, April 10.
