Caribbean’s Deeply Disappointed the Fans, Couldn’t Make It Super 12 of T20 World Cup
In the must-win match, West indies failed to defend 146 runs against Ireland, it was a very disappointing and unbelievable moment for the fans to believe. West indies were the champion side that won the world cup twice in the years 2012 & 2016. A thorough post-mortem will be carried out on all aspects of our World Cup preparation and performance – by Ricky Skerritt
Ricky Skerritt president of cricket West indies was deeply disappointed by looking at West indies’ poor performance against Scotland and Ireland. T20 has been their shining light in the past years. Before the start of the match, all four teams in the group had equal losses and wins.

West Indies’ failure should not detract from Ireland’s winning. Ireland’s was set up by Delany, who got the crucial wickets of opener Lewis, captain Pooran and the big hitter Powell. It shows the absence of Russell, Narine & Hetmyer these three main players were not in the squad and this made the early elimination in the tournament.
The new captain Pooran was under pressure while the team was losing the matches. I think Middle-order batsmen didn’t make many runs as expected, bowlers failed to take the wickets in the swinging condition. I think they will look over the aspects not headed to qualify in the Super 12 stage. The shocking defeat of the Windies soon became a big highlight to discuss on social media.
In the past matches West indies middle-order batsman Pooran, Powell, Brandon King, and Lewis didn’t show their performances which were expected, this was one of the big blows to the Caribbean team. The start that is expected from the openers Charles and Mayers were not up to the mark, the batsman was struggling against the short pitch ball & the swinging conditions.
While the bowling department disappointed the captain. We see the inexperience in the bowling as the young bowlers coming into the squad. West indies has begun their campaign with a five-wicket loss to Scotland before bouncing back to beat Zimbabwe in the second match. The Windies beat zimbabwe by three wickets to keep their super 12 qualifications hopes alive. I hope the next world cup which is held in 2024 at Westindies and UAE, Westindies will come back stronger.
