T20 World Cup: A million-dollar question from Wasim Akram gave fans a nostalgic moment when Misbah answered in a hilarious way. On the panel of Pakistan’s A News, former skippers of the side, Wasim Akram and Misbah-Ul-Haq, held a discussion on the ongoing T20 World Cup. The legendary fast bowler asked Misbah why a current lot of batters don’t play unorthodox shots like reverse sweep, reverse lap or scoop shots.

On this question, Misbah was quick to respond by saying it’s probably because of his unsuccessful shot in the T20 World Cup Final in 2007. In his response, everyone in the panel was left in splits. Misbah believed that it was his execution that was wrong. His approach was correct, but he could not play that perfectly. The fielders were there in front as well, but seeing the situation, these shots come to a particular mind.

The epic final of the T20 World Cup 2007 was won by India after Pakistan failed to achieve the target of 158. They lost the game by 5 runs, which could have gone their way. Misbah’s unorthodox shot against Joginder Sharma left the whole of Pakistan in shock that day. People believe that scoring 6 runs in 4 balls was easily achievable, keeping in mind Misbah’s batting at that time.

The approach in this World Cup

Having seen the boundaries in Australia, the Pakistani batsmen need a different approach. Boundaries are long, and implementing shots can only be successful if they come up with some innovative approach. Pakistan are set to play their first match against its arch-rivals India on October 23, 2022, at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The Men in Green will further play against South Africa, Bangladesh, and the other two teams from the qualifying round, which are yet to be finalized.
