T20 World Cup: Deepak Chahar would be beneficial for the Indian team, says Sunil Gavaskar
T20 World Cup: Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar feels that Deepak Chahar is going to be beneficial for Team India in the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia in October-November. Though India has a bunch of exceptional pacers in the squad, Deepak Chahar is one name that comes to our mind when we talk about the swing. Looking for India’s best betting sites? Gavaskar added that Australian pitches are known for their bounce and a bowler like Deepak Chahar would be handy in those conditions, especially with the kind of movement that he generates with the new ball. But as the team announced, Deepak has been drafted to the reserves and will only get to play if someone gets injured.

Return of Deepak Chahar
Chahar, who recently returned to Team India’s frame after a long injury layoff, was named as the replacement of Avesh Khan ahead of India’s final match in the Super Four stage of the 2022 Asia Cup. He went wicketless in his four overs, giving away 28 runs against Afghanistan. The right-arm pacer picked up five wickets in the two matches he played against Zimbabwe in August including 3/27 in his comeback match at Harare. Why Deepak Chahar is important?
In a fast-paced format like T20, he is someone who can trouble the batsman in the initial overs with his swinging deliveries. He can swing the ball both ways and can make good use of the conditions. He usually bowls three overs at the beginning and one towards the end, depending upon the situation. With Mohammad Shami out of contention, it is clear that he will be in the top five selected bowlers for India, including Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshal Patel.
With Hardik also in the squad, the pace attack of India would be one of the best in the tournament. They just have to make sure that they don’t do any experiments as they did in the Asia Cup recently.
Australia was set to host the T20 World Cup in 2020 before it was postponed due to COVID-19 and rescheduled to be held from October 16 to November 13 this year. The final of the much-anticipated tournament will be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
