WI VS IND: Kris Srikkanth Unhappy With India Picking Shreyas Over Hooda
WI VS IND: The competition for spots in the Indian T20I team is growing day by day. There have been quite a few headaches for the management with a number of players stepping up to the big stage. One such selection call was who out of Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Hooda should bat at number three against West Indies. The team went with Shreyas in the first T20I and this decision was not welcomed by some cricket experts. If you are searching for the best betting sites in India, you are in the ideal place!

“Where is Hooda?” Questions Kris Srikkanth
“Where is Hooda? He did well in T20Is, He did well in ODIs as well. He is the guy who should be there. In T20 cricket you need to understand, that you need all-rounders. Batting all-rounders, bowling all-rounders, so more the all-rounders better for you.”

Former India captain Kris Srikkanth strongly opposed the decision to play Shreyas Iyer while talking on one of FanCode’s shows. The World Cup-winning cricketer is of the view that Deepak Hooda has earned his place in the side. While Shreyas has struggled with technical deficiencies across formats, Hooda has displayed commendable ball-striking in the shortest format of the game. Srikkanth also pointed out that Hooda provides India with an extra bowling option. More the all-rounders, better for you, he said. Srikkanth’s criticism of the management is justified as Hooda has been in scintillating form this year. After a 451-run IPL season, he carried his form to the international level and notched up a match-winning century in Dublin. What stands out is his T20I strike rate of 172.26 this year. On the other hand, Shreyas seems to have lost his touch in the T20s after his record-breaking series against Sri Lanka this year. He has been unable to provide the team with either quick runs or consistent scores.
WI VS IND: Time Running Out For Shreyas Iyer
Speaking on the same platform, former India spinner Pragyan Ojha tried making sense of the management’s decision to play Shreyas at three. “Rahul bhai believes that if a player performed for you first then play him and back him,” he said. Ojha believes that Rahul Dravid wants to give Shreyas ample opportunities to make his case before moving on to other players. It is true that Shreyas has been around the T20I setup since 2017 and was a regular in the eleven until injury ruled him out last year. On this Srikkanth asked for Ojha’s personal opinion on the matter and Ojha replied that he too would have liked to watch Hooda play in Trinidad.
In the first T20I, India beat West Indies by 68 runs after scoring 190/5 in the first innings. Shreyas Iyer managed a four-ball duck after walking out to bat in the fifth over. He had a pretty decent ODI series with 161 runs in three matches. But the Mumbai batsman still needs to stamp his authority in T20 Internationals.
