Jhulan Goswami on the other hand did not even feature in the game as she got injured on the morning of the match. It can, therefore, might be said that we might have seen the last of Jhulan in Indian Colours when she took the last wicket against Bangladesh in the World Cup.
Both of these two have served the Indian cricket team for over two decades, but the World Cup has eluded them, they came close to winning it in 2005 and 2017 when they reached the finals but came short on both occasions. After losing the World Cup final in 2017, it was speculated that both Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami would bid adieu to the game, but sidelining all the speculations, they gave themselves another shot at the title as they pushed themselves to play in the 2022 World Cup.

Women’s World Cup 2022: We Need Time to Think about Playing Ahead
In an interview with Snehal Pradhan, after the game against South Africa, both Jhulan and Mithali on being asked if they would continue to play for India said that they need time to take a call on that.
“I need some time to process the dissapointment, clearly I’m not someone who would take any sort of decision when I’m not composed or when I don’t have clarity in mind, so I’d take some time and then probably decide on that after that”,
Raj told Snehal Pradhan.
“I think I’ll go back home, spend some time, try to digest this things and move forward, and then will talk about it. Not at this moment”,
Goswami told Pradhan.
On being asked about India’s early exit from the World Cup, Raj said that they had come to the world cup well prepared and wanted to play the finals but things didn’t go their way. But at the same time, she was happy with the way the girls responded to difficult junctures in the tournament. Looking for more Cricket tips and guides for the upcoming match? Read here.
