IPL 2022 LIVE: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has slammed Boria Majumdar with a 2-year ban for threatening Saha. Boria Majumdar, a renowned cricket expert and historian, has been found guilty of intimidating Indian wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha. The BCCI has intimated all state associations through email to deny the journalist any press accreditation, interviews with registered players and access to any BCCI or state cricket for a total of two years.
An email from BCCI’s interim CEO Hemang Amin to the state associations read:
“The key issues for deliberation for the BCCI Committee in the matter was to ascertain if the messages sent by the journalist were in the nature of threat and intimidation. The BCCI Committee considered the submissions by both Mr. Saha and Mr. Majumdar and concluded that the actions by Mr. Majumdar were indeed in the nature of threat and intimidation,”

IPL 2022 LIVE: BCCI’s swift intervention
A 3-member committee was soon constituted on February 25 to look into the matter. The committee comprised of BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla, Treasurer Arun Singh Dhumal and Apex council member Prabhtej Singh Bhatia. After much deliberation, the three-member committee found Boria Majumdar guilty of bullying Saha after he was dropped from the Test team. The committee, therefore, imposed ban on Boria for 2-years from accessing cricket facilities and interviewing any registered player in India. sanctions on Boria Majumdar“The Apex Council of BCCI agreed with the recommendations of the BCCI Committee and imposed the following sanctions: (i) 2 (two) year ban on getting any accreditation as a member of the press in any of the cricket matches (domestic and international) in India; (ii) 2 (two) year ban on getting any interview with any registered players in India; and (iii) 2 (two) year ban on access to any of BCCI and members associations owned cricket facilities.”
As reported, a communication will also be sent to the ICC to ban the journalist from global events.
Boria earlier alleged Saha for tampering and morphing the screenshots and also informed about filing a defamation case against him. He claimed to have sent all the details and sequence of events to the BCCI. Boria further claimed that Saha’s manager visited his residence on February 1 and set up two interviews as a brand building exercise. He added that Saha had confirmed for an interview over zoom and his expressions were nothing but disappointment over failure of Mr. Saha to comply with his professional commitments.
