In the batting department, Dimuth Karunaratne will have to bear the responsibility. He is currently in the sixth position in the ICC Test rankings. SL vs BAN: Sri Lanka 5th in WTC; Bangladesh 8th
Both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have lost their recent test series. Sri Lanka lost the 2-match test series against India in March. In the same month, Bangladesh was touring South Africa. They too lost the test series 2-0 after conceding a historic win in the ODI series against South Africa.
Sri Lanka are currently sitting in the fifth position at the 2021-23 World Test Championship. Bangladesh, on the other hand, are in the eighth position. Sri Lanka has won two tests and lost two Tests between 2021-23. Whereas their opponents Bangladesh have only won one test and lost 5 Tests. Bangladesh are only above England in the points table.
Bangladesh have a stronger chance given they are playing at home. Moreover, their ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is returning after a break, providing solidity to the middle-order. A relatively inexperienced Sri Lanka side is not the best bet for Sri Lanka Cricket given they sit in the fifth position in the WTC standings.
