Newly appointed India vice captain KL Rahul has said that the team is focussing on the upcoming 20-20 World Cup in Australia. Notably, India failed to make it to the semifinals of the 20-20 World Cup in UAE. India will next be up against New Zealand in a three-match T20I series. That will also be the first assignment of new coach Rahul Dravid with India on a full-time basis. Speaking on teaming up with Dravid, KL Rahul said that will be a lot to learn from him.

“As a youngster, I tried pick his brain and he was always kind to share his knowledge with us back in Karnataka. We are very excited to have him as we could hope to learn from him and understand the game better. He has always been a team man and that is the culture he wants to bring in here as well,” Rahul said in the pre-match press conference on Monday.

KL Rahul has been appointed the vice-captain for the T20I series against New Zealand. When asked about the same, the man stated that he is looking forward to the responsibility. He was also confident of players being happy and welcoming with Rahul Dravid taking over the head coach position. Moreover, Rahul also praised Rohit Sharma, the newly appointed full-time T20I skipper, highlighting his record in the Indian T20 League while leading Mumbai franchise.

“It will be an added responsibility but I have always enjoyed that. The most important thing is to make sure everyone who is coming into the dressing room is happy and feeling welcome. With Rahul Dravid coming in, I’m sure he’ll make that happen.

“There is nothing new with Rohit being the captain and the stats are there for everyone to see with Mumbai Indians. He has a great understanding of the game and is tactically very good. The next couple of weeks will be exciting for us to understand what kind of cricket we are going to play,” he said of playing under Rohit.
