Watch: Furious Mark Wood had a heated exchange with Sarfaraz Khan after conceding consecutive boundaries on Day 2
India started the fifth and final test against England in Dharamsala with the series already in their bag (3-1). But after the end of the second day of the final test, it looks like Team India might end up winning the series 4-1. After dismissing England for just 218 on Day 1, the hosts finished the second day at 473/8, stretching their lead to 255 runs.
It was another day that was dominated by the hosts. Especially Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, who scored a hundred each and took the bowlers apart. However, they fell in quick succession, but India had another big partnership for the fourth wicket between Sarfaraz Khan and debutant Devdutt Padikkal that took the game away from England. Both youngsters scored their respective half-centuries and played some excellent shots.
Watch: Furious Mark Wood had an exchange of words with Sarfaraz Khan
Team India had a wicketless morning session. But after lunch, Rohit and Fill got out in two overs. It brought Padikkal and Sarfaraz to the crease. The debutant started with some good drives and collected boundaries, but Sarfaraz had a conservative approach. But as soon as he got set, he started playing his hosts. He even smashed Mark Wood for some good shots that made the pacer angry.
During the 76th over of the innings, Sarfaraz Khan played a ramp shot off Wood, which went for a boundary over the slip. The pacer tried to bounce out the Indian batter, but nothing worked. Hence, the frustration came out when Sarfaraz blocked the ball and Wood tried to hit the stump on his follow-through. Both were seen having a go at each other.
Sarfaraz’s innings came to an end with a score of 56 off 60 with 8 fours and one six. Padikkal also played a really good hand of 56 runs. Earlier, Rohit scored 103 runs with 13 fours and three sixes, while Gill scored 110 off 10 fours and five maximums. For England, Shoaib Bashir was the pick of the bowler who took four wickets. At the stumps, Kuldeep Yadav (27) and Jasprit Bumrah (19) were unbeaten on the crease.
