Mumbai Indians recently met Gujarat Titans on 25th April 2023 in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans sealed an easy victory against Mumbai Indians on their home ground. Mumbai Indians miserably failed to perform in both innings with both the bat and ball.

Many questions were raised after the first innings of the match as Captain Rohit Sharma gave Arjun Tendulkar only two overs in the power play. Arjun was not called back to bowl after the two overs in power play.

Former Head Coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Tom Moody assessed Rohit Sharma’s decision and made a bold statement by calling Arjun Tendulkar an extra bowler in the Mumbai Indians squad. He believes Arjun Tendulkar is the 6th additional bowler for the team and doesn’t need to bowl all four overs to complete his spell.

Tom Moody’s Bold Statement on Arjun Tendulkar’s Role in Mumbai Indians

While exclusively talking to ESPNCricinfo, Tom Moody said, “You can’t guarantee that the third over will be met. Even the very best bowlers, the most experienced bowlers… when you get greedy and think, ‘let’s just try and get that extra over’, more often than not, they get lined up. Tendulkar did his job. Again, he’s a recipient of the sub. He’s the extra bowler. The extra bowler doesn’t have to complete four (overs). He has contributed well at the top, took a wicket and gave nine runs. You can’t argue when the cows come home, ‘Oh he should’ve bowled the death over instead of Green!’. Green’s the international bowler, and he has bowled poorly,”

Arjun had a good spell in the match and ended with the figures, 2-0-9-1. Tendulkar bowled Wriddhiman Saha for 4 runs off 7 deliveries. Saha was caught behind the wickets by Ishan Kishan.
