The BCCI is looking for a new chairman for the selection committee as Chetan Sharma recently stepped down from the major position after his string operation scandal came out to the public. Currently, the BCCI has appointed Shiv Sundar Das as the interim chairman of the selection committee as they will look forward to appointing a new chairman after the Indian premier league 2023 is wrapped up.

Ravi Shastri on broadcasting the BCCI selection meetings

Ravi Shastri believes that the BCCI has the ability to generate higher revenues by signing away the broadcast rights of the selection meetings. He believes this not only will generate transparency from the board but will also make the selection committee members approximately five times more than they currently do.

“It is my dream to see a live selection meeting. Can you imagine the box office when a selection meeting is happening, where a selector is accountable? It is not that far, it will happen if you want transparency. They can even sell the broadcast rights for the selection meetings as well, why not? The selectors will also then get paid five times more, because of the revenue that comes in,” said Ravi Shastri.

Ravi Shastri also elaborated upon how the IPL has given the BCCI selection committee, a bunch of left-hand batsmen who can do wonders for the Indian team. He believes these players can add value with the right-hand and left-hand combinations at various stages in the batting order for the Indian team.

“I would also like to see left-hand-right-hand combinations, just like you look for a left arm with the ball, I would like to see some left-handed batters in there as well. Even in this IPL, the teams that have done well, look at the mix they have.” I added Ravi Shastri.
