IPL 2023, GT VS DC: The IPL 2023 encounter between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was yet another exhilarating last-over showdown. Even though David Warner’s side only posted a total of 130 runs, they triumphed with an outstanding bowling performance, keeping their hopes alive in the tournament. Nevertheless, the outcome did not change the standings for either team, as Delhi Capitals remain at the bottom of the table with six points and a negative net run rate, while Gujarat Titans maintain their lead with 12 points and an impressive net run rate of +0.532.

Delhi Capitals’ decision to bat first backfired as they got off to a terrible start in the game with both Phil Salt and skipper David Warner managing to score only two runs between them. Mohammad Shami proved to be too good for the batters as he made them look clueless. GT’s pacer dismissed Phil Salt (0), Rilee Rossouw (8), Manish Pandey (1), and Priyam Garg (10), leaving the opposition reeling at 23/5 in just five overs.

However, Aman Khan’s maiden half-century in the league bailed his side out of trouble, and he showed immense character and took responsibility to help Delhi Capitals recover from the horror collapse. During his innings, he hit three maximums and three boundaries but was eventually dismissed by Rashid Khan in the penultimate over. Axar Patel (27) and Ripal Patel (23) complimented Aman Khan well, and the trio helped Delhi Capitals reach a fighting total of 130 runs. Aman added 50 runs off 54 balls with Axar Patel and 53 runs off 27 balls with Ripal Patel.

Delhi Capitals defended their total of 130 runs with a brilliant display of bowling against Gujarat Titans. The Capitals made a strong start with the ball, as Khaleel Ahmed claimed the wicket of Wriddhiman Saha in the very first over. Shubman Gill hit a four off Ishant Sharma in the second over, but the Capitals soon bounced back, with Anrich Nortje dismissing Gill and Ishant Sharma taking Vijay Shankar’s wicket. Kuldeep Yadav also struck for the Capitals, clean-bowling David Miller for a duck, and leaving GT struggling at 32/4 in the seventh over.

Hardik Pandya and Abhinav Manohar then led a fightback for GT, putting on a 62-run partnership for the fifth wicket. At the end of the 15th over, GT needed 52 runs from the last 5 overs. However, Khaleel Ahmed removed Manohar for 26, and Rahul Tewatia then changed the game by smashing three sixes off Nortje’s final over. With 12 runs required from the final over, Ishant Sharma bowled an excellent over, dismissing Tewatia and conceding only 6 runs to restrict GT to 125/6, giving Delhi Capitals the win.
