CSK had a horrific IPL 2022 season as they ended at the number 9 position in the points table losing 10 out of their 14 games. Former CSK all-rounder Shane Watson believes that the MS Dhoni-led side will certainly make a bounce back in IPL 2023 as they have got brilliant players.

Chennai Super Kings will face Defending Champions Gujarat Titans in their opening game of the season on March 31. The Hardik Pandya-led team too has got plenty of superstars and will certainly be a tough side to tackle for CSK.

“CSK will definitely bounce back. They always do. CSK have got too many great players and are led so incredibly well by MS Dhoni and Stephen Fleming. They will absolutely turn it around, there is no doubt in my mind, knowing how they work,” Shane Watson told Sportstar.

MS Dhoni has a big point to prove: Shane Watson

Chennai Super Kings’ skipper MS Dhoni too will be under pressure to perform in IPL 2023. Dhoni had a couple of quite seasons after he announced his retirement from international cricket in the year 2020.

“Dhoni can keep playing for as long as he wants. He is still very fit and it looks like he has put in more work in the lead-up to this tournament. MS has a big point to prove that you can play and lead incredibly well as a 42 (41)-year-old. He’s the man,” Watson said about CSK skipper MS Dhoni.

It is widely speculated that IPL 2023 could be the last season for MS Dhoni. The CSK skipper had earlier stated that he wants to play his last game in front of Chennai crowd. IPL will revert to the home and away format this year which will allow MS Dhoni to play in front of the home crowd in Chennai.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni along with his CSK squad is leaving no stone unturned ahead of IPL 2023. He was seen hitting a couple of massive six in the practice game ahead of their first game against Gujarat Titans.

Apart from MS Dhoni, CSK will rely on their all-rounders including Ben Stokes and Ravindra Jadeja. CSK picked Ben Stokes in the IPL 2023 mini auction while Ravindra Jadeja is a consistent player for Chennai Super Kings since 2012.
