Rajasthan Royals were chasing a below-par target of 155 runs against Lucknow Super Giants on a slowish Jaipur wicket. At one stage the Sanju Samson-led side looked like cruising toward the total but couldn’t eventually chase it down as they lost a few wickets in quick succession.

“Rajasthan should have won. I don’t think they went hard enough. Jos Buttler scored 40 off 41, that’s very unlike Jos Buttler. Then you started to see Dhruv Jurel getting out the first ball and he nearly hits that six which would have made it interesting,” Michael Vaughan said on Cricbuzz.

“Ashwin only came out to face a couple of balls. I think they could have gone harder sooner and it would have been a better chase. It was almost as if they were relying on one of the top two to see them through to 18 and 19 and hoping for a cameo,” the former England skipper criticized RR’s approach during the chase.

Rajasthan Royals got off to a good start as both their openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler played till the 11th over. They made an opening partnership of 87 runs after which Jaiswal lost his wicket after he had scored 44 runs off just 35 deliveries.

Sanju Samson too had to sacrifice his wicket due to a misunderstanding with Jos Buttler. The English batter looked pretty sluggish throughout his innings and just scored 40 runs off 41 deliveries before getting dismissed by Marcus Stoinis.

Rajasthan Royals didn’t get the finishing touch from their middle order as Hetmyer and Parag failed to deliver with the bat. They needed 19 runs off the last over but none of the batters got the big shots they were looking for as they eventually fell short by 10 runs in the RR vs LSG contest.
