“The ODI World Cup is played after every four years and this can be my last opportunity to be a part of it. So I need to do well in IPL and make a comeback in ODI format. As I said the World Cup comes after every four years and I’m not sure if I’ll be around then. Hence I want to make this season count and not wait for another four years.”

With his growing age, this will be his last chance to feature in an ODI World Cup, as he is already 35 years old. He made his ODI debut in May 2010 against Zimbabwe, but played his last ODI almost five years ago. Umesh featured in the Indian ODI squad last time in October 2018 against the West Indies. So far, he has played 75 ODIs, taking 106 wickets at a 6.01 economy rate on the highest side. KKR will play their first game on April 1 against Punjab Kings at PCA Stadium in Mohali.
