The 29-year-old batting all-rounder provided an unusual response to the query, stating that he did not want to follow anyone but instead wanted to lead the team in his way.

“I don’t want to follow anybody and want to lead in my way. If I start following someone somewhere, I will lose myself. I want to captain in my style and take the same forward in my manner.”

Rana said during a press conference

The next question was whether Nitish Rana would like to consult Ganguly. He retorted that everyone had a different approach to team leadership and that he had played under many different captains. Also, he declared that he would stick to his style and promote it to the globe.

Kolkata Knight Rider’s Options For Captaincy

“It’s not just about Dada. I have played under many captains – Gautam Gambhir, Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik, and Shreyas in all the big tournaments. I have never played under Dada, but the world knows what he did with Indian cricket and the heights he took it to. I feel that there are plenty of things to learn, but everyone has their style of captaincy.”

Previously, it had been widely reported that KKR was considering making one of Sunil Narine or Shardul Thakur their captain as a temporary replacement for Iyer. Given that Narine’s connection to the series stretches back more than 2012, they were thought to be accurate, but there were concerns regarding Shardul. It was also said that KKR would organize a big event introducing their captain. However, it turned out that neither would happen.

KKR published a post on their social media account to announce the news and a video about Rana.
