The IPL auction 2024 took place on December 19 (Tuesday) in Dubai. It saw some record-breaking signings. The two-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders stunned everyone when they went after Australian ace pacer Mitchell Starc and went on to spend INR 24.75 crore on him, making him the costliest IPL player ever. KKR went into the auction with an amount of INR 32.7 crore.
They spent almost all the money on Starc but still ended up signing some good players. KKR bought Gus Atkinson (1 crore), Manish Pandey (50 lakh), Mujeeb ur Rahman (2 crore), Sherfane Rutherford (1.5 crore), and some other uncapped stars. They signed all these players at their base price under the mentorship of Gautam Gambhir, which has certainly given KKR an option to explore in their playing XI for the IPL 2024.
