Coach Rahul Dravid Provides Significant Update on Virat Kohli’s Participation in the Final Three Tests Against England
Excitement is building over the return of batsman Virat Kohli for India after their 106-run victory over England in the second Test. Kohli had taken paternity leave and missed the first two Tests, and now it remains uncertain when he will be back for the next three games. On the other hand, Rahul Dravid, the Indian head coach, has enlightened on the possible return of Kohli for the rest of the three matches of the series against England.
With this situation, Dravid stressed that now it would be clearer for the selectors about Virat Kohli. Dravid said that the selectors would be announcing the team soon, and the management of the team would also get in touch with Virat Kohli.
On being asked the question about Kohli’s availability, Dravid said, “It’s best to ask the selectors. Selectors will be in a better position to tell you, as they are going to announce the squad in a few days. We will connect with him and find out.”
Kohli’s Absence and Eager Anticipation for Return
The head of the Indian men’s selection committee, Ajit Agarkar, was quoted as saying that they’d be waiting for a clearer picture of Virat Kohli’s availability for the rest of the IND vs. ENG Tests. The BCCI is not stubborn about inviting Kohli to join the team but is walking towards Kohli, keeping the current Indian middle-order scenario in mind.
In a reminiscence of 2023, Indian batsman Virat Kohli was bestowed the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year. Kohli emerged the highest run-getter of the tournament on an aggregate basis, totaling 1377 runs from 27 games. In this year’s ODI World Cup, he celebrated a number of high points that included having scored the most number of hundreds (8).
And Kohli, notably, went on to make history of sorts as the first-ever batsman to reach 50 hundreds in one-day international cricket (ODI), thereby overtaking the great Sachin Tendulkar. Significance was added to the innings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai against New Zealand in the ODI World Cup 2023 when the milestone was achieved in front of Tendulkar.
While Kohli had remained in a century of drought from September 2019 until 2022, the mark was broken on the soil of the United Arab Emirates during the Asia Cup 2022 while batting against Afghanistan. For many Indian fans, this was an important moment in cricket because he has been waiting for all of them to finally get to that three-figure mark with his 71st international century against Afghanistan.
