At one point, LSG were reeling at 105 for 5 in the 12th over of their 213-run chase after losing Marcus Stoinis, who swung the momentum in his team’s favor with a whirlwind knock of 30-ball 65. With not many wickets in the bank, someone like Pooran had to take the onus of keeping the required run rate and he did that well.

He got an able ally in Ayush Badoni. They forged a 50+ run partnership which changed the course of the game again. Even though Pooran got out, LSG was in the game. A last-ball dramatic finish did require LSG’s tail-enders to contribute to a one-wicket victory. Pooran was the Player of the Match on Monday. He hit four fours and seven sixes at a blistering strike rate of 326.31.

IPL 2023: Nicholas Pooran Elated with His Performance against RCB

“I just felt like I had to take that chance against the leg-spinner to get my innings going and I felt like everything just flowed for me after that. I think that’s how the game should be played. T20 is a difficult game, experience plays a massive role and I’ve struggled for the last 6-7 years in finishing games. I make wrong decisions, I make bad decisions at the wrong time and of course and I’ve cost my team a lot of games. That was my journey. I’m happy that I can learn from it and come up with a much better performance,” said Nicholas Pooran after the match.
