The icon of Mumbai Indians lauded Green for keeping his ego aside and playing a knock understanding the situation of the game. He remained not out on 64 as MI posted a challenging total of 192. The right-arm seamer then played a crucial role with the ball as he bowled four overs, conceding just 29 runs, and also picked up the big wicket of Aiden Markram.

The most expensive buy of MI in the IPL 2023 auction, Cameron Green didn’t have the best start to the tournament as he struggled to make an impact in the first few games. The Aussie all-rounder walked in to bat at number 3 after Mumbai lost their skipper Rohit Sharma in the powerplay.

In the middle-overs, it was tough for him to get going. Green kept his calm, absorbed pressure, and kept rotating strike. Once Green found his favorable match-up in pace, he latched onto the opportunity and exploded towards the end. Mumbai’s Green carried his bat as other batters batted around him for MI to post a competitive total on the board. In a video shared on Mumbai Indians’ official social media handles, Tendulkar was heard appreciating the efforts of the Aussie all-rounder with his bag during his innings against SRH.

“He (Cameron Green) can hit the ball as long as anyone in the team. But, the initial phase was a tough phase for him. And he did not let his ego come in the way. Ego is something which will always encourage you to do the wrong things. He did not and he chose the right path in the interest of our team. He could have easily tried to play some stupid shot. Had he been dismissed, who knows, we might not have got to 192. So I think a big, big round of applause to him for his effort. Special one,” Sachin Tendulkar said in a video released by Mumbai Indians’ official social media team.
