Fans present at the iconic Wankhede Stadium witnessed one of the most memorable catches in the history of the cash-rich league. Ace all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took a spectacular catch to end the innings of Mumbai Indians all-rounder Cameron Green. The incident took place in the second delivery of the ninth over of the first innings when Jadeja pulled off a miraculous grab to stun the home crowd. On the second delivery of Jadeja’s over, Cameron Green tried to up the ante and smack a boundary down the ground over Jadeja’s head but the ace all-rounder plucked the ball out of nowhere. The video footage later revealed that Jadeja was actually trying to protect himself and the ball stuck in his right hand.

In the process, Jadeja also saved on-field umpire Chris Gaffaney, who was standing behind Jadeja. He was seen ducking for cover as the ball was hit with brutal force. As the catch was completed, the crowd erupted and acknowledged the effort of Jadeja. It indeed was a special catch as the reaction time of that catch recorded was just 0.50 seconds.

Talking about the game, after being forced to bat first, Mumbai Indians could only post 157 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. CSK bowlers didn’t start well but as soon as the powerplay overs came to an end, spinners spun the game in CSK’s favour. Jadeja and his spin twin Mitchell Santner picked five wickets between them to derail MI’s batting line-up. CSK’s most successful spinner Jadeja took three wickets while only conceding 20 runs in his four overs. While Santner bagged 2 wickets for 28 runs in his four. Tushar Deshpande (2/31) and Sisansa Magala were other wicket-takers of the Yellow Army.
