1. Quinton de Kock
Quinton de Kock wasn’t available for selection in the first couple of games for the Lucknow Super Giants as he was on national duty. The LSG side gave opportunity to Kyle Mayers to open the innings for them and ge grabbed it with both hands.

The South African keeper-batter has just played 2 games for the LSG franchise in IPL 2023 despite playing some heroic knocks for them in the previous edition of the cash-rich league. Quinton de Kock scored 70 off just 41 balls in his first game in IPL 2023 against the defending champions Gujarat Titans.
2. Wanindu Hasaranga
Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore haven’t shown much trust in Wanindu Hasaranga in the ongoing IPL 2023. In his first couple of matches, Hasaranga didn’t even bowl his quota of four overs and wasn’t trusted to deliver at key stages of the innings.
He was their star both with the ball and the bat in IPL 2022 but isn’t getting enough opportunities this year. They have even sent Harshal Patel above him in the batting order in a few games despite him being a proven lower order batter.

3. Rovman Powell
Rovman Powell is a proven superstar in T20 leagues across the globe. He got three single-digit scores in the first three games in IPL 2023 after which he was dropped from the playing XI. However, he hasn’t batted much in the death overs where he can smack the ball out of the park.
Due to the failure of Delhi Capitals’ top order, the Caribbean batter batted in the middle overs in most games and had to face quality spin bowlers in the form of Ravi Bishnoi, Ravichandran Ashwin and Piyush Chawla who were able to get him out cheaply.
4. Ben Stokes
Chennai Super Kings picked Ben Stokes at a mammoth price with high expectations from the English all-rounder. However, he got injured after playing a few games in the initial phase of IPL 2023 and hasn’t got a game since then.
There’s no update on his fitness as of now but CSK have certainly got a settled combination and they don’t usually tinker with it. With the likes of Conway, Moeen, Pathirana and Theekshana in their squad, CSK haven’t tried getting Ben Stokes back in the playing XI.
5. Joe Root
Joe Root made his IPL debut this year for the Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 7. However, he didn’t get a chance to bat in the game and so was the case in the next game against KKR.
Even though Joe Root has a brilliant record in the Indian conditions, Rajasthan Royals didn’t include him in the playing XI for the first 10 games.
