IPL 2023: Shubman Gill has been in the form of his life. The last 6–7 months have been career-changing for the 23-year-old Indian superstar. Notably, Gill made his debut for India in January 2019 but didn’t get many chances due to the settled Indian opening pair. However, he was part of the test team. But Gill made his breakthrough into the Indian team last year when he smashed his maiden test century in Bangladesh.

IPL 2023: “You can’t really define their legacies”- Shubman Gill on his comparison with Sachin-Virat
Gill has smashed three centuries in the ongoing IPL edition. He has scored 851 runs in 16 innings at an excellent average of 60.79 and a strike rate of 156.43, with three centuries and four half-centuries. Many former cricketers, cricket pundits, and fans believe that Gill is the next superstar in Indian cricket. Some said that he would carry on the legacy of Sachin and Virat. However, the 23-year-old has a different take on it. In an interview with ANI, Gill said,
“See it’s great when people see it but I don’t really see that way because the generation that all of these people Sachin sir, Virat bhai and Rohit Sharma have inspired is beyond. Had we not won the 1983 World Cup, had there not been a Sachin Tendulkar….had we not won the 2011 world cup would I be as much inspired, maybe or maybe not. So, these kinds of legacies, things kind of things are immortal. You can’t really define their legacies.”
Gill will be a key for the defending champion if they want to win the title. Because of the form he is in, he can change the game. CSK will have to find a solution to restrict him before he gets going. The final match will take place on reserve day, May 29, at Narendra Modi Stadium.
