IPL 2024: The preparations for the next season of the Indian Premier League all began with ten franchises preparing for the next season. The Chennai Super Kings won the last edition. They beat the Gujarat Tians in the final in Ahmedabad. The auction for the next season is scheduled to take place in Dubai in December, after the end of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.

All ten teams will have a chance to retain the players that did well for them last season and release those who failed. However, there is also a chance for the team’s owner to pick a player from the other teams through a trade window. As a result, the five-time champion Mumbai Indians have made a big move ahead of the IPL 2024 auction.

IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians trade West Indian all-rounder from Lucknow Super Giants

The Mumbai Indians have traded West Indian all-rounder Romario Shepherd to the Lucknow Super Giants. The IPL confirmed it through a media advisory: “”Romario Shepherd has been traded to the Mumbai Indians (MI) from the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) trading window ahead of the IPL 2024. Shepherd, who has played four IPL matches, representing LSG and Sunrisers Hyderabad, was traded to MI for his existing fee of INR 50 lakh.

Notably, the all-rounder has featured in four IPL matches so far. He has scored 58 runs at an average of 19.38 and a strike rate of 138.1. With the ball, he has taken three wickets as well. He can be a useful pick for MI because of his all-round ability. His recent form for the West Indies has also been pretty good.

In 31 games, he has scored 301 runs at a strike rate of 153.6 and an average of 37.6. He has also taken 38 wickets with a best of 4/31. Shepherd was a key player when the West Indies beat India 3-2 in the five-match T20I series earlier this year. He was welcomed by MI bowling coach Lasith Malinga, who is very excited to have him on the sidelines.
