Chasing the target, LSG had a horrible start as they lost their first three wickets in just four overs for 23 runs. But after that, KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis added 76 runs for the third wicket. Stoinis was the aggressor and scored 65 off 30, with six fours and five sixes. But still, LSG was far behind. But then, Nicholas Pooran came and smashed the second-fastest IPL half-century. He made a 15-ball fifty and scored 62 off 19 balls.

He, along with Ayush Badoni (30 off 24), added 84 runs for the sixth wicket to take LGS near the target. But the situation got complicated when LSG needed five off the last over and had three wickets in hand. They lost Mark Wood (1) and Jaydev Unadkat (9) in that over, but the last pair clinched a thrilling victory. After the win, the LSG camp was pumped up, including mentor Gautam Gambhir. He was seen making a “fingers on lips” gesture towards RCB fans after the win.
