GT vs KKR: Gujarat Titans’ pacer Yash Dayal had a forgettable game against the Kolkata Knight Riders as he conceded 5 sixes in the final over against Rinku Singh. Gujarat Titans’ all-rounder Vijay Shankar has come up in support of the young pacer as he believes one cannot define a player based on just one bad over.

Vijay Shankar was one of the best performers in the GT vs KKR game as he scored a swashbuckling 24-ball 63 helping his side post a massive total of 204-4. After discussing about his knock in the post-match press conference, the Gujarat Titans’ all-rounder spoke about Yash Dayal’s final over against Rinku Singh.

“Last year, Yash Dayal bowled some very important overs for Gujarat Titans, to win us the tournament. You cannot define a player based on one over in a game. Everyone has worked so hard to reach the stage of IPL, having worked so hard in domestic cricket,” Vijay Shankar said in the post-match press conference.

“These things are bound to happen and so many players have been in a tough situation. As a team, we will be with Dayal because it is not easy to come out of a situation like this. We will make sure that he is in a very good mental space going forward,” Vijay Shankar spoke about their responsibility as a team.

Kolkata Knight Riders needed 29 runs off the last over in the GT vs KKR game. Yash Dayal bowled the final over as all the senior bowlers including Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, and Alzarri Joseph had already bowled their quota of four overs.

Yash Dayal started off with a good delivery as Umesh Yadav could only score a single which allowed Rinku Singh to get back on the strike. However, the Gujarat Titans’ pacer completely lost his rhythm and bowled three consecutive full tosses which allowed Rinku Singh to smash three sixes.

While Yash Dayal went back to his length in his next two deliveries, Rinku Singh made sure to connect them as well hitting 5 consecutive sixes. Yash Dayal eventually leaked 68 runs off his four-over spell which allowed Kolkata Knight Riders to clinch the victory against Gujarat Titans.
