IPL 2023: “MS Dhoni Adds a Lot of Value As a Mentor”- Pragyan Ojha

IPL 2023: CSK skipper MS Dhoni is one of the finest captains in the history of the Indian Premier League. Former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha reckons MS Dhoni adds a lot of value, not just as a captain or a player but also as a mentor of the Chennai Super Kings.

Ahead of the CSK vs SRH game, Pragyan Ojha spoke about MS Dhoni’s influence on the CSK side in a media interaction arranged by Jio Cinema. He praised Dhoni for what he has achieved as a leader and the way he handles both youngsters and experienced players.

“I think he (Dhoni) adds a lot of value, not just as a captain or a player but also as a mentor. He has got a different role to play and as a captain, nobody would disagree on what he has done for the country and how he is taking care of the young boys and seniors,” Pragyan Ojha said about MS Dhoni on Jio Cinema.

“The best example is look at the way Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ajinkya Rahane have been performing. It’s phenomenal,” the former Indian spinner quoted examples of the two CSK batters to prove his point.

While MS Dhoni is a brilliant leader and an explosive batter, he has also taken over the role of a mentor for the Chennai Super Kings. The young players that play for CSK under MS Dhoni get enough opportunities to prove themselves in a calm team environment.

Pragyan Ojha quoted the examples of young Ruturaj Gaikwad and experienced Indian batter, Ajinkya Rahane. While Gaikwad is one of the youngest guys in the CSK squad, Rahane has played enough International cricket and has even led the Men in Blue and both these guys get equal opportunities to express themselves in MS Dhoni’s leadership.

Dhoni is also mentoring the young CSK pace lineup which includes the likes of Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Tushar Deshpande, and Matheesha Pathirana. While all these young CSK pacers struggled a bit in their first few games, Dhoni made sure to get results out from them over time after which the yellow army performed pretty well in IPL 2023.
