Team India defeated Australia by 2-1 in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The victory against Australia helped them secure their berth for the World Test Championship. The WTC 2023 final will be played at The Oval in London from 7 to 11 June 2023.

“I think players should be fine. I don’t see a problem. Yes, there’s a lot of cricket. The scheduling is like that. That’s the way it is. Players will play. I really don’t see a problem. When it comes to the WTC final, they anyway get 10-day breaks after IPL. I think they will manage.” Ganguly told in an with the Times of India.

“I don’t see any league being as important as the WTC final”, Sourav Ganguly

“It’s a challenge to prepare international Future Tours Programme (FTP). But I don’t think you can stop leagues going around the world. Test cricket will always be the best format of the game. I don’t see any league being as important as WTC final,” the former captain said about WTC 2023 final.

Team India has faced quite a few injury issues in the recent past specifically during major ICC events. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja were ruled out of the 2022 T20 World Cup due to injuries.

Meanwhile, Team India will feature in the WTC 2023 final without their crucial players Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah. Both Bumrah and Pant are still recovering from their injuries.

There’s no clarity on Shreyas Iyer’s participation in the WTC 2023 final as well. Iyer has suffered a back injury and has been ruled out of the initial few games of the Indian Premier League. Nitish Rana has been named as KKR’s captain in the absence of Shreyas Iyer.

As stated by Sourav Ganguly, Indian players will get some gap between the two mega tournaments, and the Indian team management will hope to not face any more injury issues ahead of the WTC 2023 final.
