ENG vs IND: Jos Buttler Named England’s New White Ball Captain Following Eoin Morgan’s Retirement
ENG vs IND: On Thursday, England’s cricket board named Jos Buttler as the country’s new white-ball captain. The 31-year-old batter takes over for Eoin Morgan, who retired from international cricket earlier this week. Buttler has been a key member of England’s white-ball teams for more than a decade. In 2011, he made his T20I debut, and the following year, he made his 50-over debut for the Three Lions. Looking for new betting sites in India? We got you covered! ENG vs IND: ‘Buttler is the best white-ball player,’ Morgan
Following his exploits against the Netherlands, Morgan dubbed Buttler the best white-ball cricketer on the planet. Buttler scored an unbeaten 162 of 70 balls to power England to a mammoth 498/4 in the first ODI. It is the highest score ever combining men’s and women’s ODI.
“I would like to offer my sincere thanks and gratitude to Eoin Morgan for his outstanding leadership over the past seven years. It has been the most memorable period for everyone involved. He has been an inspirational leader, and it has been fantastic to play under him. There are lots of things that I have learnt from him that I’ll take into this role,“
Buttler said in a interview to ECB
“It is a great honour to take over from Eoin, and the place he has left English white-ball cricket in is exciting, and I’m inspired for the challenges ahead,”
he added
Buttler’s form has been so impressive that he has been linked to a possible return to England’s Test squad as the country enters a new era under Brendon McCullum. Buttler has 2,907 runs at an average of 31.94 in 57 Tests for England, but he was replaced by Ben Foakes following a disappointing Ashes series. His first assignment as the new skipper will be the 3-match ODI and 3 T20I series against India, starting July 7.
