According to NDTV, Bumrah will not play in the upcoming season due to a back injury. The pacer will undergo back surgery and hasn’t completely recovered until now. It will be a big blow for Rohit Sharma and MI, as they had a poor season in 2022, finishing last at the table. MI won only four games out of 14 in 2022. Not just for MI; it is also a big concern for the Men in Blue.

Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of the IPL 2023- Reports
Bumrah has been out of action for almost six months now. He played his last game for India against Australia ahead of the T20 World Cup. However, he was named in the squad for the T20 World Cup but then withdrew his name. And now, it has been learned that the pacer might have to undergo back surgery. For India, it is a big concern, as he might not feature in the final of the World Test Championship in England in June if India qualifies.
According to ESPN Cricinfo, the Indian Board’s medical team has advised him to have the surgery. However, the BCCI hasn’t taken any decisions yet and will consult with Bumrah and the NCA. The pacer has been completing his rehab at the NCA. Notably, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said last month that they are looking to give him as much time as possible to get his full fitness.
However, India will host the 2023 ODI World Cup in October and November of this year. Thus, Bumrah’s fitness will be very crucial for India in home conditions. The Indian management is hoping that he will recover and be ready for the upcoming marquee event. India hasn’t won a major ICC tournament in almost a decade. However, this will be a brilliant chance for them to end their trophy drought at home.
