It is a clash between two top-ranked sides. India is currently ranked No. 1, while Australia is ranked No. 2. This will be the second chance for the Indian team to get their hands on the WTC mess. Notably, India ended as runners-up in the inaugural edition in 2021. They suffered a loss at the hands of New Zealand in the final. Thus, they will look to complete the unfinished business.

WTC Final 2023: Virat Kohli along with other senior players started training camp ahead of WTC Final
Some Indian players who are part of the test squad will travel to the UK after the conclusion of the IPL final. Meanwhile, others have already flown to England. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli joined the team on Friday. On the other hand, all-rounder Shardul Thakur and veteran pacer Umesh Yadav were among the first batch to reach England. Veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara was already in the UK, playing in the County Championship. He has also joined the team. Mohammed Siraj and Ravichandran Ashwin have also started training.

Rohit Sharma and his men will look to win the game to end the trophy drought for the team. India hasn’t won any ICC event for almost a decade now. They won the last ICC title in 2013 under MS Dhoni, which was the Champions Trophy. Apart from that, they have played in a number of finals and semi-finals but haven’t won any championships.
It will be a great opportunity, as some of the players are in great shape. Especially the form of Virat, Pujara, Shubman Gill, and Ajinkya Rahane is looking pretty good. Virat and Gill have scored the most runs for an Indian in the ongoing IPL edition. On the other hand, Mohammed Shami and Siraj are looking good with the ball in hand. Adding to that, they also beat Australia 3-1 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home.
