IPL 2023: We are just one game away from the grand finale of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League. The four-time champion Chennai Super Kings became the first team to qualify for the final. They won Qualifier 1 on Tuesday against the defending champion Gujarat Titans at Chepauk Stadium. CSK reached their 10th IPL final out of the 14 seasons they have played. However, the second spot is still up for grabs.

The second finalist will be decided after the conclusion of Qualifier 2 on Friday. It will be the five-time champion Mumbai Indians taking on Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. It will be a cracking contest between the two best sides of the competition. This is very difficult to judge which team will make it to the final because both are playing good cricket. GT topped the group but lost to CSK. Meanwhile, MI started slow but made a brilliant comeback and beat Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator.

Well, the result will come soon, and the winner of Qualifier 2 will face CSK on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium. GT will have the upper hand because they will play at home, and having a home crowd with them will be an added advantage. On the other hand, MI is on the roll and coming off two good wins in their last two games, which were must-wins for them.

They thrashed LSG by 81 runs in the last game. Former IPL legend Chris Gayle picks a team that CSK will not want to face. In an interaction on Jio Cinema, Gayle said,

“They’re (MI) going to GT’s hometown (Ahmedabad), so that’s going to be a big plus for them. That’s something we have to take into consideration. But the momentum is now with Mumbai. Is Mumbai going all the way to the final? If they do, CSK doesn’t want to see a team like Mumbai.”

Notably, MI has faced CSK in four IPL finals (2010, 2013, 2015, and 2019) and has beaten Chennai in three of them. That is one of the reasons why these two teams share a long history with each other. However, it will be an epic clash if MI can make it to the final because these two teams were at the bottom of the table last season.
