Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma took the charge and smashed all the MI bowlers for regular boundaries. Both batters added an unbeaten fourth-wicket partnership of 119 runs. That superb partnership took PBKS to their fourth consecutive 200-plus total. PBKS ended with 214/3 in their first inning. Jitesh remained unbeaten with a 27-ball 49, while Livingstone struck his first half-century of the IPL 2023. He made an unbeaten 82 off 42, with seven fours and four sixes. MI had a poor start, with skipper Rohit Sharma getting out for a duck in the first over.

Cameron Green also tried hard but got out for 23 off 18. His wicket brought Suryakumar Yadav to the crease. He then joined Ishan Kishan and took the PBKS bowling apart. Both batters added a match-winning partnership of 116 for the third wicket, which took MI close to the chase. Suryakumar played a blinder of an inning and scored 66 off 31 with 8 fours and two sixes for a strike rate of 212.90.

But the inning for SKY changed the situation of the match. Former Indian star Robin Uthappa praised SKY for his explosive inning and said that he batted at his usual best. MI chased down the target in 18.5 overs and made 216/4. It was highest successful run chase by a team in Mohali. Tilak Varma (26 off 10) and Tim David (19 off 10) took them home. With this win, MI moved to 6th place with 10 points.
