Trent Boult came in to bowl the first over of RCB innings as Samson expected him to swing the new ball. The left-arm pacer was right on the money as he bowled a full delivery around the middle stump channel which kept coming in as Virat Kohli looked to flick but the ball crashed onto his pads.

It was a trademark inswinger from Boult and was so plumb that the star batter didn’t even look at Faf du Plessis and walked away toward the pavilion without considering reviewing it. The Chinnaswamy crowd went into deathly silence after Virat’s dismissal.

Virat Kohli’s Golden Duck didn’t allow RCB to get the kind of momentum they needed at the start. Shahbaz Ahmed came in to bat at the number 3 position. However, Trent Boult dismissed him in the third over of the RCB innings.

Glenn Maxwell then came in to bat at number 4 and changed the complexion of the game along with Faf du Plessis. The two RCB batters made a formidable partnership of 127 runs for the third wicket and brought back their side in the RCB vs RR contest.

Faf du Plessis scored a brilliant 39-ball 62 including 8 fours and a couple of sixes while Maxwell played a brilliant knock of 77 runs off just 44 balls including 6 fours and 4 maximums. Courtesy of the two-star batters, RCB posted a total of 189-9 in their 20 overs.
