Star English pacer Ollie Robinson believes the change in approach towards the test format will allow the English side to perform better against Australia in Ashes 2023.

Ashes 2023: Ollie Robinson believes England will regain the Ashes urn

Robinson has been a key part of England’s test squad right since he made his international debut in June 2021. While speaking to BBC Radio Sussex, the English pacer looked really positive about England’s chances in Ashes 2023.

“With the team and squad we have at the moment it’s such an exciting time to play Australia at home. When we went to Australia we weren’t quite at our best. I really feel we could get one over them this summer and give them a good hiding. It’s a dream come true to be involved in a home Ashes. It doesn’t get much better than that,” Ollie Robinson said to BBC Radio Sussex.

“There’ll come a point where other Test nations will have to try to play the way we play to compete. The entertainment we are producing is like nothing we have seen in Test cricket before,” Ollie Robinson further said about England’s approach to test format.

It’s worth noting that England hasn’t won the Ashes since 2015. They lost to Australia by 4-0 in the year 2017-18 and 2021-22. On the other hand, Ashes 2019 was a drawn affair.

However, England had a change in fortune in the test format right after Ben Stokes took over as the captain of the side and Brendon McCullum was appointed as their coach. The English side have won 11 out of their last 12 Tests after the change in approach.

Interestingly, it’s not just about the results that England have got in the last year. Their aggressive approach has brought a lot of excitement and entertainment to the test format. Hence, Ollie Robinson believes all the test-playing nations will have to start following the same approach in the near future.
