Mumbai Indians won the toss and invited Gujarat Titans to bat first on their home ground. Gujarat Titans left no chance to entertain their fans and qualify for the finals as they gave Mumbai Indians, a mammoth target of 234. Mumbai Indians failed to change the title as they gave away multiple wickets and ultimately lost the game by a huge margin of 62 runs.

The Jio Cinema cricket expert Aakash Chopra recently analysed the Qualifier 2 game between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians exclusively on his YouTube channel. Chopra had some interesting observations about the match and pinpointed the moment at which Mumbai Indians completely lost the game.

Aakash Chopra said how Ishan Kishan getting injured by Chris Jordan was a massive blow to Mumbai Indians. He said Chris Jordan was conceding runs back-to-back and ultimately he hit his own player or wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan.

Aakash Chopra gave reference to the incident wherein Chris Jordan was wiping his face with the towel and accidentally hit his elbow on Ishan Kishan’s eye which made him get a concussion which resulted in his absence for the rest of the match. This incident was a huge blow for Mumbai Indians as the team’s attacking opening batsman Ishan Kishan could not come to the field to bat.

“When we talk about the run chase, another problem was that Ishan Kishan got injured. Chris Jordan was getting hit and then he hit his own guy. Ishan Kishan had a concussion and didn’t come to bat.” Said Aakash Chopra while analysing the game between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians on his YouTube channel.

Aakash Chopra on Rohit Sharma’s early dismissals throughout the season in IPL 2023

Aakash Chopra also talked about Nehal Wadhera and Rohit Sharma’s failure as batsmen (in the form of early dismissals) in the crucial game. He also criticised Rohit Sharma for his poor numbers throughout the season and especially in the knockout game. Rohit Sharma only scored four runs in the knockout game against Gujarat Titans.

Throughout the season of IPL 2023, Rohit Sharma has scored only 329 runs in 16 matches with an average of 20.5 which is extremely low coming from one of India’s most attacking opening batsmen and all format Captain. A statistic also revealed that Rohit Sharma has only scored 133 runs in 15 innings of qualifiers and eliminators (except finals) for Mumbai Indians the highest score of 26 which shall be alarming for the Mumbai Indians’ team management.

“Nehal Wadhera came to open and got out in the first over. Rohit Sharma has a stat that is not flattering at all. If you see his playoff numbers, barring finals, there are a lot of games, but the average is actually in single digits and it was a single-digit score in this match as well.” Said Aakash Chopra while analysing the game between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians on his YouTube channel.

Aakash Chopra could not resist praising Suryakumar Yadav for his brilliant knock and scores. Aakash believes that after his wicket, there was no chance of a comeback by Mumbai Indians. Suryakumar Yadav was bowled by Mohit Sharma.

“Suryakumar Yadav is in a different league. They were alive till the time he was there but as soon as Surya got out, they were eclipsed. There was no chance after that.” Said Aakash Chopra while analysing the game between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians on his YouTube channel.
