GT vs SRH: Shubman Gill joins AB de Villiers in an elite list of batters
The 23-year-old scored 101 off 58 balls, including one six and 13 boundaries. For SRH, Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up five-wicket hauls (5/30). Gill started the inning quickly and reached his fifty with 22 balls. With his hundred, the 23-year-old achieved a rare milestone: a quadruple century. Gill scored a century each in Tests, T20Is, ODIs, and the IPL in 2023 and became only the second batter after AB de Villiers to do so.

Notably, the 23-year-old has scored centuries in T20I, Test, and IPL at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, he has yet to play an ODI game at this venue this year. Chasing the target, SRH had another struggling batting performance. They lost seven wickets for just 59 runs in nine overs. Mohammed Shami started it on the power play, and Mohit Sharma ended it. Both pacers picked up four wickets each in the second inning.
Heinrich Klaasen was the only SRH batter who looked in good touch. He scored 64 off 44, with four boundaries and three sixes. As a result, SRH ended at 154/9, losing by 34 runs. With this win, GT became the first team to qualify for the playoffs in 2023. Meanwhile, SRH has been disqualified from the tournament.
